My maternal grandfather was a children’s publisher, commissioned by the government. They ran a popular bookstore in a significant industrial town. I saw him very little, but he gave us a few tips that have granted us success and prosperity: the first was to read a dictionary, and the second was to not be afraid to coin new words.
I have always been found of neologisms (creating new words) and of creating my own definitions of words. I zoom into potential new and deeper meanings of various words and concepts. This allows me to write vocabulary lists with new and existing words with my own assigned meanings.
And this, my friends, is a source of power, potential and leadership.
New words or definitions also:
- deepen understanding
- allow shift from a world of conflict to one of cooperation and collaboration as human acumen deepens and reaches a point of unity
- create excitement and generate possibilities
- enrich the mind, enrich the society
- open up the mind’s eye to connections and potentials previously unseen
EXAMPLE: Recently, I created a new word: “Melonization“. This word comes from the global tide rising in the favor of Gaza/Palestine, and the resultant shift in the policies and offerings of various businesses. (I currently use this word for the socio-economy.) Watermelons are the symbol of resistance. They have been used as icons for the resistance to unite behind. The melonization of the economy, in my view, is some surface changes at first just to give a visual cue to the mind and to set the intention, and thereafter, make deeper changes in processes, policy, products–the whole deal. Read the first use instance of the word, Melonize.
Stay tuned while we develop new words and new definitions, and also use traditional or existing vocabulary curated as a set to define a universe of application.
